JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Olympic silver-medalist
Meb Keflezighi won his fifth Gate River Run and world cross-country
champion Blake Russell was the first woman to cross the finish line in
this National Championship 15K race.
In unofficial times, Keflezighi finished at 43:44, with Russell crossing 33 seconds later.For
the next two hours, thousands of others -- mostly local, recreational
runners -- finished the 9.3-mile course, making this Jacksonville's
largest participation sporting event. Race officials said a record
10,198 runners registered for the event, and about 90 percent of those
were expected to complete the run.
